Great Northern Hideaway

Well built and thoughtfully designed and well stocked, spacious home This home is well situated in a remote area but also close enough to Glacier. We enjoyed watching the trains go by. This home has spacious inside and outside areas to relax, play games, cook, eat & sleep comfortably.

Luxury Lodge My family of 6 stayed here for a week and it was perfect! Everything we needed was there and the kitchen had every appliance and utensil needed for cooking. We cooked breakfast and dinner each day and my husband loved the grille! Beds were very comfortable and the host was excellent in replying to questions or concerns. Highly recommend and we definitely plan to come back!

Our Grandkids had a great time. The property was beautiful, well maintained, and had everything we needed . Check in was easy and we were well informed via emails. Thank You

Great beautiful cabin in a beautiful part of the world. Cabin has all modern amenities and the hosts are great, very communicative.

Everything was new and looked great. Plenty of room and supplies. Issac Walton Restaurant is nearby and had wonderful food.

The house was in the perfect location to the park! It was cozy & very comfortable! The decor was stylish & fun! We thoroughly enjoyed staying there!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Great Northern Hideaway! The house is very new and very comfortable. It is very well equipped - especially the kitchen. Everything worked perfectly! It was a super base camp for our family adventure to both sides of Glacier Park. The trains going by were loud - but we actually really enjoyed seeing them and watched them from the great firepit out back. We took a walk by the tracks and found some old iron railroad ties from the original railway by the tracks and put them by the mantle like some others had done before us. Checkin was a breeze. There’s no cell service but the Wi-Fi was very sufficient. We would definitely consider staying here again. Chris & Leah

This house was absolutely everything you would want for a cabin-especially if you're traveling with family. It was: nicely decorated, felt new, everything worked, clean, well appointed kitchen, fun games, half way in between both West and East sides of the park. We 100% loved the house and even got used to the train noise. The only down side for us was that we were wishing that we could've walked to a trail or river without having to get on the busy highway in front of the house.

For a small group of people who appreciate clean, spacious, beautiful and well stocked, this is the place. There were 5 of us and it was just right! Would stay here again in a heart beat!

Very clean and new place. Our family enjoyed well. In between both east and west glaciers. Easy to drive in both ways. Well stocked. Great atmosphere. Was informed about train - so we were not surprised.

This stay is beautiful and the house is immaculate. Whether you have a large family filling the house or a few people, you will enjoy it! We were 2 women staying there and felt very safe. Our only regret was not using the fire pit. That being said, we had a bad encounter with Brian. The code was changed mid-stay and we were locked out, which was inconvenient but not the end of the world. This property does not have cell service, so the only way to place calls was over wifi (unless you wanted to drive 30 min to get cell service). As a result, I could not call the general business line & could only call Brian’s cell. He was incredibly snarky when he answered and it was frustrating to know he has been receiving my texts and calls for the 30 min we had already been locked out but didn’t respond in any way. Overall this house is an amazing stay with tons of amenities, but this encounter makes us pause for rebooking.

The house was amazing. It was clean and very well stocked from the kitchen to the bathrooms. Linens were plush and soft. Plenty of literature on what to do in the surrounding area, including Glacier National Park. Our family was right at home. We grilled one evening and on another we started a fire and made s'mores. I like the book that was in the kitchen for each guest to write a bit about their stay in the cabin and what they did while they were in Essex. It is located near train tracks, there is no crossing so the train does not have to signal, but you can definitely hear them when they pass. There were ear plugs in the night stands when we stayed. :-)

The Great Northern Hideaway is a beautiful home w/spacious rooms & surrounded by beauty. The kitchen is well equipped & large enough for several people to be working on meal prep w/o getting in each others way. The bunk room could be a bit crowded for adults, but is perfect for kids. The two king rooms are spacious w/ furniture to unpack & relax, the beds and linens are comfy. The central A/C did a great job of keeping the whole house very comfortable & it was toasty out during our visit. Nice that there is enough seating at the dining area for parties of 8. Good strong wi-fi. Loved all the wood in the home; floors, some walls, doors, window & door frames. Lots of great light through the abundant windows. Nice, newer appliances. Appreciated the smart TV so I could log into my own streaming apps! Our activities were focused on the East side of the park & the drive time was longer than expected, but that was my own lack of research, still great home base! Nice creek access 1 mile away!

Beautiful house very new we enjoyed our time there. It’s about an hour and 40 from the east entrance of glacier and 45 minutes from the west entrance of glacier. Great appliances

Loved the location and how stocked the house was with supplies and had everything we could’ve ever needed! So comfortable and beautifully decorated as well. Would love to come back!!

The property is lovely and modern. It is in a fairly strategic location between the East and West parts of the park. The host was kind and responsive. The train is directly. Behind the property. It can be heard even with the windows closed - from the bedroom facing that direction- so light sleepers should note this - especially if you like keeping the windows open at night, which we felt we needed to do despite the AC for extra cooling and ventilation.

We had a wonderful stay! The host was quick to respond our questions and checking in/out of the airbnb was seamless. The airbnb itself is gorgeous and comfortable. The whole airbnb was well stocked in terms of linens and we were most impressed with the kitchen. There have been items left from previous tenants that we were able to use which were helpful. There was even bear spray that we borrowed! Thank you again :)

The house is really beautiful, modern, and truly lovely to stay at. The location is wedged between a highway and relatively busy railroad but we didn't have any issues sleeping through them. Also note it's pretty far from towns so I'd recommend cooking food in the large, clean, modern kitchen in the house. It is perfectly situated between east and west glacier which was very nice.

The place and our vacation were fantastic! Highly recommend staying here. Yes, there is a train that goes by, a lot, and through the night but honestly, we didn’t mind it, we enjoyed it. You are close to the park entrances but it will take quite a long drive to Logan’s Pass and Many Glacier, roughly 1.5 plus hours. The drive is gorgeous though. Hosts were very responsive and the cabin had everything we needed. We purchased, but did not use our bear spray. Costco had it the cheapest. You can also rent it at the airport or from place in Apgar Village which you should also visit. My son hiked almost 90 miles, my daughter almost 70. My husband and I, age 56, hiked almost 30. Almost made it to Grinnell Glacier but had to stop because that last mile became brutal. There are fantastic views on that hike so it was worth it. We enjoyed an outdoor fire one night and roasted marshmallows which was fun The cabin was cozy and relaxing and we would stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was beautiful and spacious. Everything was clean and updated. The home was very well stocked, including items I hadn’t even thought of. We had 7 guests with plenty of room for all. We were very happy with the location, about 20-25 min from West Glacier. The hosts were very accommodating and quick to respond. We would absolutely stay here again!

Such a beautiful home!

Such a beautiful, comfortable and spacious home - everything you would want or need in a rental property and more! It has a really nice, large kitchen that is well stocked if you plan to do a lot of cooking! The bedrooms are nice and spacious with super comfortable mattresses and nice sheets. The outdoor space is a plus with a huge table and a great fire pit! The train was not an issue at all - we actually enjoyed being close to the train and found it fascinating. The location is great for accessing both east and west Glacier as well as trailheads/sites off of Route 2. Also, visiting the Izaak Walton just down the road is fun and interesting!

Convenient to West and East Glacier

This house is great! The kitchen has everything you need- even the essential spices, coffee maker, toaster! There’s a fun puzzle & games! It’s clean & beautifully decorated. There is internet; but it’s pretty slow; so let the office know that you really will be in vacation. We had dinner on the back patio each evening since the weather was so nice and the trees beautiful. Yes, the house is very close to the railroad tracks and lots of trains go by; but most of us were able to get used to the noise (and bringing a sound machine helped a lot at night). It’s right off one of the main highways- so there’s a bit of road noise, too. You can’t really walk to any place; but it’s in a very convenient location as far as going to the park. You are right in between the west and east sides of the park. We loved the house and would recommend if you’re able to get over the train and road noise.

Great location to the park! The house was cozy & very comfortable! Private location! Open kitchen/ living room with fireplace! A sitting area in the back which was perfect for a bbq with a fire pit. Bedrooms/bathrooms very nice! The house decor is so lovely 😊 We definitely recommended this beautiful home as a rental! And look forward to rented in the future 😁 Thx you!!!
